लङ्कायामुत्तरद्वारं शैलशृङ्गमिवोन्नतम् ।
रामः महानुजो धन्वी जुगोप च रुरोध च ॥६-४१-३३॥
laṅkāyāmuttaradvāraṃ śailaśṛṅgamivonnatam |
rāmaḥ mahānujo dhanvī jugopa ca rurodha ca ॥6-41-33॥
Translation
At the northern gate of Lanka, which was as high as a mountain peak, Shri Rama, the archer, along with his younger brother, took his stand to guard and blockade it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लंका का उत्तर द्वार, जो पर्वत शिखर के समान ऊँचा था, वहाँ धनुर्धारी श्री राम ने अपने छोटे भाई (लक्ष्मण) के साथ स्वयं मोर्चा संभाला (रक्षा की और घेरा डाला)।
English Commentary
Shri Rama assigns himself the most critical position: the Northern Gate ('Uttaradvara'). Being as high as a mountain, it was likely the main or most fortified entrance. By positioning himself there with Lakshmana, Shri Rama directly challenges Ravana's primary exit. 'Jugopa ca rurodha ca' implies he both protected his own troops there and blocked the enemy's egress.

उत्तर द्वार सबसे महत्वपूर्ण था क्योंकि संभवतः रावण वहीं रहता था या वह मुख्य द्वार था। श्री राम ने सबसे कठिन मोर्चा अपने लिए चुना। लक्ष्मण के साथ मिलकर उन्होंने उस द्वार को 'रुरोध' (रोक दिया/घेर लिया)। यह एक सेनापति द्वारा 'फ्रंट से लीड' करने का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है।
