Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
केचिन्नागसहस्रस्य बभूवुस्तुल्यविक्रमाः ।
सन्ति चौघबलाः केचित्केचिच्छतगुणोत्तराः ॥६-४१-४८॥
kecinnāgasahasrasya babhūvustulyavikramāḥ |
santi caughabalāḥ kecitkecicchata guṇottarāḥ ॥6-41-48॥
Translation
Some were equal in prowess to a thousand elephants. Some had the strength of an 'Ogha' (a massive number), and some were a hundred times stronger than that.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुछ में एक हजार हाथियों के समान पराक्रम था। कुछ में 'ओघ' (विशाल समूह) जितना बल था और कुछ तो उससे भी सौ गुना अधिक बलशाली थे।
English Commentary
The escalation of power metrics continues—up to a thousand elephants and beyond. This hyperbolic description serves to validate how trees and stones could defeat advanced weaponry. It assures the audience that the Vanaras are physically capable of dismantling the architecture of Lanka.
हिंदी टीका
शक्ति का स्तर बढ़ता ही जा रहा है। हजार हाथियों का बल! 'ओघ' सेना की एक विशिष्ट संख्या या बाढ़ के प्रवाह को कहते हैं। यहाँ इसका अर्थ असीमित बल से है। कवि यह स्थापित कर रहे हैं कि रावण की सेना चाहे कितनी भी शक्तिशाली हो, श्री राम की वानर सेना शक्ति में कम नहीं है।
