लङ्कामुपनिविष्टैश्च संपतद्भिश्च वानरैः ।
शतं शतसहस्राणां पृथगृक्षवनौकसाम् ॥६-४१-५१॥
laṅkāmupaniviṣṭaiśca saṃpatadbhiśca vānaraiḥ |
śataṃ śatasahasrāṇāṃ pṛthagṛkṣavanaukasām ॥6-41-51॥
Translation
Besides the monkeys who were besieging Lanka and leaping about, there were hundreds of thousands of separate divisions of bears and forest-dwellers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लंका को घेरकर बैठे हुए और इधर-उधर कूदते हुए वानरों के अलावा, ऋक्षों (भालुओं) और अन्य वनवासियों की लाखों (सौ बार सौ हजार) अलग-अलग टुकड़ियाँ थीं।
English Commentary
It clarifies that the army wasn't monolithic. Distinct divisions of bears ('riksha') operated alongside the monkeys. The mention of 'hundreds of thousands' of divisions emphasizes the inexhaustible manpower (or 'bear-power') at Shri Rama's disposal.

वानरों के अलावा भालुओं (ऋक्ष) की भी विशाल उपस्थिति थी। उनकी अपनी अलग टुकड़ियाँ थीं। यह सेना की विविधता और विशालता को पुनः रेखांकित करता है। घेराबंदी इतनी सघन थी कि लंका की दीवार का कोई हिस्सा खाली नहीं था।
