धर्मात्मा रक्षसां श्रेष्ठः संप्राप्तोऽयं विभीषणः ।
लङ्कैश्वर्यं ध्रुवं श्रीमानयं प्राप्नोत्यकण्टकम् ॥६-४१-६९॥
dharmātmā rakṣasāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ saṃprāpto'yaṃ vibhīṣaṇaḥ |
laṅkaiśvaryaṃ dhruvaṃ śrīmānayaṃ prāpnotyakaṇṭakam ॥6-41-69॥
Translation
This righteous Vibhishana, the best among demons, has come to me. This glorious one shall surely obtain the sovereignty of Lanka without any thorns (obstacles).
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसों में श्रेष्ठ यह धर्मात्मा विभीषण मेरे पास आ गया है। अब यह श्रीमान (विभीषण) निश्चित रूप से लंका का निष्कंटक ऐश्वर्य (राज्य) प्राप्त करेगा।
English Commentary
Shri Rama plays a political card. He informs Ravana that the regime change is already sanctioned. Vibhishana is recognized as the rightful heir ('Lankaishvaryam... prapnoti'). By calling Vibhishana 'Dharmatma', Shri Rama contrasts him with Ravana. This declaration seals Ravana's fate—he is already a past king in Shri Rama's eyes; Vibhishana is the future.

श्री राम रावण को बता रहे हैं कि उसका उत्तराधिकारी चुना जा चुका है। विभीषण, जिसे रावण ने निकाल दिया था, अब श्री राम के पक्ष में है और वही लंका का भावी राजा है। 'निष्कंटक' का अर्थ है कि रावण (जो कांटा है) को हटाने के बाद विभीषण राज करेगा। यह रावण के लिए बड़ा राजनीतिक झटका था।
