Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
देवदानवयक्षाणां गन्धर्वोरगरक्षसाम् ।
शत्रुमुच्चाटयिष्यामि त्वामृषीणां च कण्टकम् ॥६-४१-८३॥
devadānavayakṣāṇāṃ gandharvoragarakṣasām |
śatrumuccāṭayiṣyāmi tvāmṛṣīṇāṃ ca kaṇṭakam ॥6-41-83॥
Translation
I shall uproot you, who are the enemy of gods, Danavas, Yakshas, Gandharvas, snakes, and demons, and a thorn to the sages.
हिंदी अनुवाद
देवता, दानव, यक्ष, गन्धर्व, उरग (सर्प) और राक्षसों के शत्रु तथा ऋषियों के लिए कांटा (कष्टप्रद) बने हुए तुम्हें मैं उखाड़ फेंकूँगा।
English Commentary
Ravana is branded a universal enemy—hostile to all species, divine and demonic alike. He is a 'kantakam' (thorn) in the side of the sages. Shri Rama vows to 'uchchatayishyami' (eradicate/exorcise) him. The language is of pest control or removing a disease from the cosmic body.
हिंदी टीका
रावण 'सर्वशत्रु' (Enemy of all) है। यहाँ तक कि वह राक्षसों का भी शत्रु है (क्योंकि उसके कारण वे मारे जाएंगे)। श्री राम उसे 'ऋषियों का कंटक' कहते हैं। 'उच्चाटयिष्यामि' (उखाड़ फेंकना) शब्द का प्रयोग समूल नाश के लिए किया गया है।
