वृतो यत्तैस्तु सचिवैस्तस्थौ तत्र महाबलः ।
गजो गवाक्षो गवयः शरभो गन्धमादनः ॥६-४२-३१॥
vṛto yattaistu sacivaistasthau tatra mahābalaḥ |
gajo gavākṣo gavayaḥ śarabho gandhamādanaḥ ॥6-42-31॥
Translation
The mighty Gaja, Gavaksha, Gavaya, Sharabha, and Gandhamadana stood there surrounded by their attentive/prepared ministers/lieutenants.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महाबली गज, गवाक्ष, गवय, शरभ और गन्धमादन—ये सब अपने सावधान (यत्तैः) मंत्रियों/साथियों से घिरे हुए वहां (सेना की रक्षा के लिए) खड़े रहे।
English Commentary
These five commanders (Gaja, Gavaksha, etc.) form the backbone of the army's structure. They are stationed with their own officers ('sacivaih') to manage the troops and maintain formation. Their role seems to be mobile reserve or perimeter security, ensuring the army doesn't lose cohesion during the chaotic assault.

ये पांचों वानर सेनापति प्रबंधकों की भूमिका में थे। वे आक्रमण की अग्रिम पंक्ति में न होकर, सेना के संचालन और सुरक्षा के लिए तैनात थे। वे अपने 'सचिवों' (लेफ्टिनेंट्स) के साथ तैयार थे ताकि जहां जरूरत हो वहां मदद पहुँचा सकें।
