निजघ्नुर्वानरान् घोराः कथयन्तः स्वविक्रमान् ।
वानराश्च महावीर्या राक्षसाञ्जघ्नुराहवे ॥६-४२-४३॥
nijaghnurvānarān ghorāḥ kathayantaḥ svavikramān |
vānarāśca mahāvīryā rākṣasāñjaghnurāhave ॥6-42-43॥
Translation
...striking the monkeys, those terrible Rakshasas proclaimed their own prowess. And the highly mighty monkeys also killed the Rakshasas in battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...अपने पराक्रम का बखान करते हुए उन भयानक राक्षसों ने वानरों को मारना शुरू किया। और महावीर्यवान वानरों ने भी युद्ध में राक्षसों को मारा।
English Commentary
The Rakshasas fight with arrogance, shouting out their deeds ('kathayantah svavikraman') as they strike. However, the Vanaras are not cowed. Described as 'mahavirya' (greatly mighty), they reciprocate the violence. The verse establishes that despite the weapon disparity, the Vanaras held their ground.

राक्षस अपनी वीरता का बखान ('कथयन्तः स्वविक्रमान्') करते हुए मार रहे थे, जो उनकी अहंकारी युद्ध शैली है। वानरों ने भी ईंट का जवाब पत्थर से दिया। 'जघ्नुः' (मारा) क्रिया दोनों पक्षों के लिए प्रयुक्त है, जो बताता है कि युद्ध बराबरी का और भीषण था।
