राक्षसास्त्वपरे भीमाः प्राकारस्था महीगतान् ।
भिन्दिपालैश्च खड्गैश्च शूलैश्चैव व्यदारयन् ॥६-४२-४६॥
rākṣasāstvapare bhīmāḥ prākārasthā mahīgatān |
bhindipālaiśca khaḍgaiśca śūlaiścaiva vyadārayan ॥6-42-46॥
Translation
On the other hand, terrible Rakshasas stationed on the ramparts tore apart the monkeys standing on the ground with Bhindipalas (slings/javelins), swords, and tridents.

दूसरी ओर, दीवार (प्राकार) पर स्थित भयानक राक्षसों ने जमीन पर खड़े वानरों को भिन्दिपालों (गुलेल/फेंकने वाले हथियार), तलवारों और शूलों से चीर डाला।
English Commentary
The Rakshasas utilize their defensive advantage, raining death from the walls ('prakarastha'). Using projectile weapons like 'bhindipala' and heavy melee weapons, they inflict severe casualties on the ground forces. This illustrates the tactical difficulty of assaulting a fortified position.

राक्षसों को ऊंचाई पर होने का लाभ मिल रहा था। वे दीवारों से नीचे खड़े वानरों पर घातक हथियार बरसा रहे थे। 'व्यदारयन्' (चीर डाला) शब्द वानरों की भारी क्षति को दर्शाता है। यह घेराबंदी युद्ध का सबसे खूनी चरण था।
