युध्यतां तु ततस्तेषां वानराणां महात्मनाम् ।
रक्षां संबभूवाथ बलकोपः सुदारुणः ॥६-४३-१॥
yudhyatāṃ tu tatasteṣāṃ vānarāṇāṃ mahātmanām |
rakṣāṃ saṃbabhūvātha balakopaḥ sudāruṇaḥ ॥6-43-1॥
Translation
As those high-souled Vanaras and Rakshasas began to fight, a very terrible and fierce fury arose within the armies.

उन महात्मा वानरों और राक्षसों के बीच युद्ध आरम्भ होने पर सेनाओं में अत्यंत भयंकर और दारुण रोष उत्पन्न हो गया।
English Commentary
This verse describes the initial moments of the Great War. The term 'Mahatmanam' used for the Vanaras indicates their noble and righteous nature. This conflict was not merely a physical battle but a clash between two ideologies—Dharma versus Adharma. The word 'Balakopah' signifies the intense fury and surge of energy within the ranks, which fuels the impending devastation of war.

इस श्लोक में महासंग्श्री राम के आरम्भिक क्षणों का वर्णन है। यहाँ वानरों के लिए 'महात्मा' शब्द का प्रयोग उनके धर्मनिष्ठ होने का संकेत देता है। युद्ध केवल शस्त्रों का नहीं बल्कि दो विचारधाराओं का था। एक ओर धर्म की स्थापना हेतु कटिबद्ध वानर सेना थी और दूसरी ओर अधर्म के पोषण में लगे राक्षस। 'बलकोपः' शब्द सेना के भीतर व्याप्त उस तीव्र संवेग और क्रोध को दर्शाता है जो युद्ध की विभीषिका का कारण बनता है।
