निहतैः कुञ्जरैर्मत्तैस्तथा वानरराक्षसैः ।
चक्राक्षयुगदण्डैश्च भग्नैर्धरणीसंश्रितैः ॥६-४३-४६॥
nihataiḥ kuñjarairmattaistathā vānararākṣasaiḥ |
cakrākṣayugadaṇḍaiśca bhagnairdharaṇīsaṃśritaiḥ ॥6-43-46॥
Translation
With slain elephants in rut, Vanaras, and Rakshasas, and with broken wheels, axles, and yokes of chariots lying on the earth—

मारे गए मतवाले हाथियों, वानरों और राक्षसों से तथा भूमि पर गिरे रथ के पहियों, अक्षों और जुओं के टुकड़ों से—
English Commentary
Fragments of broken chariots amidst the bodies of elephants and warriors complete the gruesome picture of war. Even 'elephants in rut' could not survive the onslaught. This scene reflects the silence and void that follows the peak confrontation of human and animal might.

मृत हाथियों और योद्धाओं के शरीरों के बीच टूटे हुए रथों के भाग युद्ध की विभीषिका को पूर्ण करते हैं। 'मतवाले हाथी' भी इस संहार से नहीं बच सके। यह दृश्य मानवीय और पाशविक बल के चरम टकराव के उपरान्त की शांति और शून्यता को दर्शाता है।
