संगत: सुमहाक्रोधो राक्षसो रावणानुजः ।
समरं तीक्ष्णवेगेन मित्रघ्नेन विभीषणः ॥६-४३-८॥
saṃgataḥ sumahākrodho rākṣaso rāvaṇānujaḥ |
samaraṃ tīkṣṇavegena mitraghnena vibhīṣaṇaḥ ॥6-43-8॥
Translation
Vibhishana, the younger brother of Ravana, filled with great anger, engaged in a battle with the Rakshasa Mitraghna, who possessed sharp speed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रावण के छोटे भाई विभीषण ने अत्यंत क्रोधित होकर तीखे वेग वाले राक्षस मित्रघ्न के साथ युद्ध किया।
English Commentary
Vibhishana's participation in the battle is the ultimate test of his resolve. Despite being Ravana's brother, he does not hesitate to take up arms against his own kin for the sake of Dharma. Facing enemies like Mitraghna serves as an opportunity to prove his loyalty to Shri Rama. His anger reflects a deep-seated righteous indignation against Adharma.

विभीषण का युद्ध में सम्मिलित होना उनके संकल्प की पराकाष्ठा है। यद्यपि वे रावण के भाई हैं, किन्तु धर्म की रक्षा हेतु वे अपने ही कुल के विरुद्ध शस्त्र उठाने से पीछे नहीं हटे। 'मित्रघ्न' जैसे शत्रुओं का सामना करना उनके लिए अपनी निष्ठा सिद्ध करने का अवसर है। यहाँ उनका क्रोध अधर्म के प्रति उनकी घृणा को प्रदर्शित करता है।
