रुधिरोदा महाघोरा नद्यस्तत्र प्रसुस्रुवुः ।
ततो भेरीमृदङ्गानां पणवानां च निःस्वनः ॥६-४४-१२॥
rudhirodā mahāghorā nadyastatra prasusruvuḥ |
tato bherīmṛdaṅgānāṃ paṇavānāṃ ca niḥsvanaḥ ॥6-44-12॥
Translation
Terrifying rivers flowed there with blood as water. Then, the sound of drums like Bheri, Mridanga, and Panava resonated.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहाँ रक्त की जल वाली महाभयानक नदियाँ बहने लगीं। तब भेरी, मृदंग और पणव आदि वाद्ययंत्रों का शब्द गूंजने लगा।
English Commentary
The metaphor of 'rivers of blood' is used to show the scale of the slaughter. The sound of the war drums served to maintain morale and perhaps drown out the screams of the dying.

संहार की अधिकता को दर्शाने के लिए 'रक्त की नदियों' का रूपक प्रयोग किया गया है। वाद्ययंत्रों की ध्वनि युद्ध के उत्साह को बनाए रखने और मरने वालों की चीखों को दबाने का काम करती है।
