तस्मिंस्तमसि दुष्पारे राक्षसाः क्रोधमूर्च्छिताः ।
परिपेतुर्महावेगा भक्षयन्तः प्लवङ्गमान् ॥६-४४-६॥
tasmiṃstamasi duṣpāre rākṣasāḥ krodhamūrcchitāḥ |
paripeturmahāvegā bhakṣayantaḥ plavaṅgamān ॥6-44-6॥
Translation
In that impenetrable darkness, the demons, overwhelmed with rage, rushed about with great speed, devouring (or biting) the monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस दुस्तर अन्धकार में क्रोध से व्याप्त राक्षस वानरों को खाते हुए (या काटते हुए) महान वेग से दौड़ने लगे।
English Commentary
A description of the Tamasic and cruel nature of the Rakshasas. 'Bhakshayantah' can mean literally eating or tearing apart with teeth. This shows the Rakshasas reverting to their primal instincts. The word 'dushpare' (difficult to cross) emphasizes the density of the darkness.

राक्षसों की तामसिक और क्रूर प्रकृति का वर्णन। भक्षयन्तः का अर्थ शाब्दिक रूप से खाना या दाँतों से काटकर मारना हो सकता है। यह दर्शाता है कि राक्षस अपनी आदिम प्रवृत्ति पर उतर आए थे। दुष्पारे (जिसे पार करना कठिन हो) शब्द अन्धकार की सघनता को बताता है।
