Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते भीमवेगा हरयो नाराचैः क्षतविग्रहाः ।
अन्धकारं न ददृशुर्मेधैः सूर्यमिवावृतम् ॥६-४५-६॥
te bhīmavegā harayo nārācaiḥ kṣatavigrahāḥ |
andhakāraṃ na dadṛśurmedhaiḥ sūryamivāvṛtam ॥6-45-6॥
Translation
Those monkeys of terrible speed, their bodies wounded by steel arrows (Narachas), could not see him (Indrajit) hidden in darkness, like the sun covered by clouds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
नाराच (लोहे के बाणों) से घायल शरीरों वाले वे भयानक वेग वाले वानर, बादलों से ढके हुए सूर्य की भांति (माया के) अंधकार में छिपे उस (इन्द्रजित) को नहीं देख सके।
English Commentary
The monkeys are helpless against an invisible assailant. The metaphor of the sun hidden by clouds describes Indrajit's position perfectly—he is present and powerful but unseen. The monkeys, struck by 'narachas' (steel arrows), suffer injuries without being able to retaliate, illustrating the terrifying advantage of Indrajit's sorcery.

वानर घायल हो रहे थे किन्तु शत्रु को देख नहीं पा रहे थे। वाल्मीकि जी ने इन्द्रजित की तुलना बादलों से ढके सूर्य से की है। जैसे सूर्य बादलों के पीछे रहकर भी ताप देता है, वैसे ही इन्द्रजित अदृश्य रहकर भी बाण वर्षा कर रहा था। यह एक विषम युद्ध था जहाँ वानर असहाय थे।
