Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
निरन्तरशरीरौ तौ भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ।
क्रुद्धेनेन्द्रजिता वीरौ पन्नगैः शरतां गतैः ॥६-४५-८॥
nirantaraśarīrau tau bhrātarau rāmalakṣmaṇau |
kruddhenendrajitā vīrau pannagaiḥ śaratāṃ gataiḥ ॥6-45-8॥
Translation
Those two hero brothers, Shri Rama and Lakshmana, had their bodies completely covered/pierced by serpents that had turned into arrows, shot by the angry Indrajit.
हिंदी अनुवाद
क्रुद्ध इन्द्रजित के द्वारा, बाणों का रूप धारण किए हुए सर्पों (पन्नगों) से, उन दोनों वीर भाइयों—श्री राम और लक्ष्मण—के शरीर निरंतर (बिना खाली जगह के) बिंध गए।
English Commentary
This verse reveals the nature of the weapon: the Nagapastra. The arrows were actually 'pannagas' (serpents) transformed by magic. Shri Rama and Lakshmana were densely pierced ('nirantara-sharirau'). While Shri Rama is divine, within the dramatic enactment of human life (nara-lila), he subjects himself to the laws of these weapons, highlighting the potency of Indrajit's boon-acquired powers.

यह श्लोक 'नागपाश' के रहस्य को उजागर करता है। इन्द्रजित के बाण साधारण नहीं थे; वे सर्प थे जो बाण बनकर आए थे। 'निरन्तरशरीरौ' का अर्थ है कि उनके शरीर पर कोई स्थान खाली नहीं बचा था। यह इन्द्रजित की तामसी विद्या थी। भगवान होते हुए भी श्री राम ने नर-लीला के अंतर्गत इस कष्ट को स्वीकार किया।
