ननाद बलवांस्तत्र महासत्त्वः स रावणिः ।
तानर्दयित्वा बाणौघैस्त्रासयित्वा च वानरान् ॥६-४६-२३॥
nanāda balavāṃstatra mahāsattvaḥ sa rāvaṇiḥ |
tānardayitvā bāṇaughaitrāsayitvā ca vānarān ॥6-46-23॥
Translation
Having tormented those Vanaras with volleys of arrows and having frightened them, that powerful and highly spirited Indrajit roared loudly there.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन वानरों को बाणों के समूह से पीड़ित करके और उन्हें डराकर, वह महाबली और अत्यंत साहसी इन्द्रजित वहाँ जोर-जोर से गर्जना करने लगा।
English Commentary
A roar is a symbol of both victory and terror. Indrajit's great strength is manifested here as cruelty. He is not satisfied with merely wounding them; he wants to instill deep fear ('Trasa') in the Vanaras' hearts so they never think of fighting again.
हिंदी टीका
गर्जना विजय और आतंक का प्रतीक है। इन्द्रजित का 'महाबल' यहाँ उसकी क्रूरता के रूप में प्रकट हो रहा है। वह केवल घायल करके संतुष्ट नहीं है, वह वानरों के मन में भय (त्रास) बिठाना चाहता है ताकि वे पुनः युद्ध का विचार न करें।
