Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वसुधायां निरुच्छ्वासौ हतावित्यन्वमन्यन ।
हर्षेण तु समाविष्ट इन्द्रजित्समितिंजयः ॥६-४६-२८॥
vasudhāyāṃ nirucchvāsau hatāvityanvamanyan |
harṣeṇa tu samāviṣṭa indrajitsamitiṃjayaḥ ॥6-46-28॥
Translation
Seeing them breathless on the earth, they concluded that they were dead. Then Indrajit, the conqueror of battles, was overwhelmed with joy.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पृथ्वी पर उन्हें श्वासहीन देखकर उन्होंने मान लिया कि वे मर चुके हैं। तब युद्धों को जीतने वाला इन्द्रजित अत्यंत हर्ष से भर गया।
English Commentary
Indrajit is called 'Samitinjayah', honoring his past victories. However, here his intellect is clouded. 'Nirucchvasau' (breathless) can mean a state of suspended animation or yogic sleep, not necessarily death. Indrajit's joy is indicative of a fatal over-confidence.

इन्द्रजित को 'समितिञ्जयः' कहा गया है, जो उसकी पिछली जीतों का सम्मान है। किन्तु यहाँ उसकी बुद्धि कुंठित हो गई है। 'निरुच्छ्वास' का अर्थ केवल सांस रुकना नहीं, बल्कि योगनिद्रा जैसी स्थिति भी हो सकती है। इन्द्रजित का हर्ष विनाशकारी अति-आत्मविश्वास का परिचायक है।
