Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अचेष्टौ मन्दनिःश्वासौ शोणितौघपरिप्लुतौ ।
शरजालाचितौ स्तब्धौ शयानौ शरतल्पयोः ॥६-४६-४॥
aceṣṭau mandaniḥśvāsau śoṇitaughapariplutau |
śarajālācitau stabdhau śayānau śaratalpayoḥ ॥6-46-4॥
Translation
The two were motionless, their breathing was very faint; they were drenched in a stream of blood and lay on a bed of arrows, transfixed by a network of shafts.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे दोनों निश्चेष्ट थे, उनकी सांसें अत्यंत धीमी चल रही थीं, वे रक्त के प्रवाह से लथपथ थे और बाणों के जाल से बिंधे हुए बाणों की शय्या पर पड़े थे।
English Commentary
This verse provides a physical depiction of the gravity of the situation. The term 'Sharatalpa' (bed of arrows) evokes the image of the ultimate sacrifice and heroism. Shri Rama's blood-stained body represents the height of the physical suffering He assumed in His human form. This sight serves as an intense test of the faith and patience of His followers.

यह श्लोक स्थिति की गम्भीरता का भौतिक चित्रण है। 'शरतल्प' (बाणों की शय्या) शब्द पितामह भीष्म की स्मृति दिलाता है, जो शौर्य का चरम प्रतीक है। यहाँ प्रभु का शरीर रक्त रंजित है, जो उनके द्वारा मानव रूप में झेले जा रहे कष्टों की पराकाष्ठा है। यह दृश्य भक्तों के धैर्य की परीक्षा लेने वाला है।
