आचचक्षे प्रियं पित्रे निहतौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ।
उत्पपात ततो हृष्टः पुत्रं च परिषस्वजे ॥६-४६-४७॥
ācacakṣe priyaṃ pitre nihatau rāmalakṣmaṇau |
utpapāta tato hṛṣṭaḥ putraṃ ca pariṣasvaje ॥6-46-47॥
Translation
He related the pleasing news to his father that 'Shri Rama and Lakshmana are killed'. Hearing this, Ravana sprang up with joy and embraced his son.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने पिता को यह प्रिय समाचार सुनाया कि 'श्री राम और लक्ष्मण मारे गए'। यह सुनकर रावण खुशी से उछल पड़ा और अपने पुत्र को गले लगा लिया।
English Commentary
For Ravana, there was no news more pleasing than 'they are killed'. His 'springing up' (Utpapata) reflects the release from the deep-seated fear he felt toward Shri Rama. This embrace is not just between father and son, but a union of two arrogant powers unaware of their impending doom.

रावण के लिए 'मारे गए' शब्द से बड़ा कोई प्रिय समाचार नहीं था। उसका 'उछल पड़ना' (उत्पपात) उसके उस गहरे डर की मुक्ति को दर्शाता है जो उसे श्री राम से लग रहा था। यह आलिंगन केवल पिता-पुत्र का नहीं, बल्कि दो अहंकारी शक्तियों का मिलन है जो अपनी आसन्न हार से अनजान हैं।
