पृच्छते च यथावृतं पित्रे सर्वं न्यवेदयत् ।
यथा तौ शरबन्धेन निश्चेष्टौ निष्प्रभौ कृतौ ॥६-४६-४९॥
pṛcchate ca yathāvṛttaṃ pitre sarvaṃ nyavedayat |
yathā tau śarabandhena niśceṣṭau niṣprabhau kṛtau ॥6-46-49॥
Translation
Upon being asked, he reported everything to his father exactly as it had happened—how he had rendered those two motionless and lusterless with the bond of arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पूछने पर उसने अपने पिता को सब कुछ वैसा ही बताया जैसा हुआ था— कैसे उसने उन दोनों को बाण-बन्धन (नागपाश) से निश्चेष्ट और कांतिहीन कर दिया था।
English Commentary
Indrajit's report is a boast of his own skill. Describing them as 'Nisprabhau' (lusterless) is his error, for the luster of Shri Rama can never be extinguished. He describes only the external state of the bodies. Ravana absorbs every detail, as it seems to be his only hope for continued survival.

इन्द्रजित का विवरण उसके कौशल का बखान है। 'निःप्रभौ' (कांतिहीन) कहना उसकी भूल है, क्योंकि श्री राम की कांति कभी समाप्त नहीं हो सकती। वह केवल बाहरी शरीर की अवस्था का वर्णन कर रहा है। रावण इस विवरण को पी रहा है, क्योंकि यही उसके जीवित रहने की एकमात्र आशा उसे प्रतीत हो रही है।
