Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अन्तरिक्षं निरीक्षन्तो दिशः सर्वाश्च वानराः ।
न चैनं मायया छन्नं ददृशू रावणिं रणे ॥६-४६-८॥
antarikṣaṃ nirīkṣanto diśaḥ sarvāśca vānarāḥ |
na cainaṃ māyayā channaṃ dadṛśū rāvaṇiṃ raṇe ॥6-46-8॥
Translation
Those Vanaras were scanning the sky and all the directions, but they could not see Indrajit, the son of Ravana, who was hidden by his illusory power in the battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे वानर आकाश और सभी दिशाओं में देख रहे थे, किन्तु माया से छिपे हुए रावण पुत्र इन्द्रजित को वे युद्ध में नहीं देख सके।
English Commentary
Indrajit's 'Maya' symbolizes the dark forces that obscure the truth. The Vanaras were looking only with their physical vision, and thus were unable to find the illusory enemy. This verse highlights the deceptive nature of Adharma, which often strikes from the shadows rather than in direct confrontation.

इन्द्रजित की 'माया' तामसिक शक्तियों का प्रतीक है जो सत्य को ओझल कर देती हैं। वानर केवल भौतिक दृष्टि से देख रहे थे, इसलिए वे मायावी शत्रु को खोजने में असमर्थ थे। यह श्लोक अधर्म के उस छद्म रूप को उजागर करता है जो प्रत्यक्ष न होकर परोक्ष रूप से प्रहार करता है।
