Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
जाम्बवानृषभः स्कन्धो रम्भः शतवलिः पृथु ।
व्यूढानीकाश्च यत्ताश्च द्रुमानादाय सर्वतः ॥६-४७-३॥
jāmbavānṛṣabhaḥ skandho rambhaḥ śatavaliḥ pṛthu |
vyūḍhānīkāśca yattāśca drumānādāya sarvataḥ ॥6-47-3॥
Translation
...as well as Jambavan, Rishabha, Skandha, Rambha, Shatavali, and Prithu - all of them arranged their troops in formation, armed themselves with trees, and stood alert on all sides.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...तथा जाम्बवान, ऋषभ, स्कन्ध, रम्भ, शतवली और पृथु - इन सबने अपनी सेनाओं की व्यूहरचना की और वृक्षों को लेकर चारों ओर से (श्री राम की) रक्षा के लिए तत्पर हो गए।
English Commentary
To make the defense impenetrable, a military formation (Vyuha) was established. Since the Vanaras lacked conventional weaponry, they armed themselves with trees. The word 'yattah' (alert/prepared) indicates their heightened state of readiness to counter any further attacks from the enemy.

रक्षा पंक्ति को अभेद्य बनाने के लिए व्यूहरचना (सैन्य विन्यास) की गई। चूँकि वानरों के पास पारंपरिक अस्त्र-शस्त्र नहीं थे, उन्होंने वृक्षों को ही आयुध बना लिया। 'यत्ताः' (सजग/तैयार) शब्द दर्शाता है कि वे शत्रु के किसी भी नए आक्रमण का सामना करने के लिए पूर्णतः सचेत थे।
