शोधयित्वा जनस्थानं प्रवृत्तिमुपलभ्य च ।
तीर्त्वा सागरमक्षोभ्यं भ्रातरौ गोप्पदे हतौ ॥६-४८-१५॥
śodhayitvā janasthānaṃ pravṛttimupalabhya ca |
tīrtvā sāgaramakṣobhyaṃ bhrātarau goppade hatau ॥6-48-15॥
Translation
Having cleansed Janasthana, obtained news (of me), and crossed the unshakeable ocean, the two brothers have been killed in a cow's hoof-print (puddle)!
हिंदी अनुवाद
जनस्थान को (राक्षसों से) साफ करके, (मेरा) पता लगाकर, और अक्षोभ्य सागर को पार करके, दोनों भाई (अंत में) गोष्पद (गाय के खुर के गड्ढे) में मारे गए!
English Commentary
Sita highlights the cruel irony. Shri Rama achieved the impossible—clearing Janasthana and bridging the ocean. Yet, he fell in a 'goshpade' (cow's hoof-print/puddle), a metaphor for an insignificant or treacherous end compared to the mighty obstacles he overcame. It emphasizes the unpredictability and unfairness of their demise.

सीता इस विडंबना पर रोती हैं। श्री राम ने असंभव कार्य किए—जनस्थान का युद्ध, समुद्र को पार करना। लेकिन अंत कैसा हुआ? 'गोष्पद' (छोटे गड्ढे) में डूबने जैसा। अर्थात, बड़ी बाधाएं पार करने के बाद एक तुच्छ/अचानक हमले में मारे जाना। यह एक वीर की त्रासदी (Tragedy) है।
