अदृश्यमानेन रणे मायया वासकोपमौ ।
मम नाथावनाथाया निहतौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥६-४८-१७॥
adṛśyamānena raṇe māyayā vāsakopamau |
mama nāthāvanāthāyā nihatau rāmalakṣmaṇau ॥6-48-17॥
Translation
My two protectors (Nathas), equal to Indra (Vasava), have been killed by one remaining invisible in battle through illusion (Maya), leaving me orphaned/helpless.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुझ अनाथ के वे दोनों नाथ (स्वामी), जो इन्द्र के समान थे, युद्ध में माया के द्वारा अदृश्य हुए (इन्द्रजित) के द्वारा मार दिए गए।
English Commentary
Sita identifies the cause: cowardice and sorcery. The enemy fought unseen ('adrishyamanena'). She compares her husbands to Indra ('vasakopamau'), implying they were invincible in fair combat. Now, she is 'anatha' (protectorless), a term carrying immense social and emotional weight for a woman in that era.

सीता कारण समझती हैं—'मायया' (माया से) और 'अदृश्यमानेन' (अदृश्य रहकर)। सामने से लड़ते तो श्री राम-लक्ष्मण (जो इन्द्र समान 'वासकोपमौ' थे) कभी न हारते। सीता स्वयं को 'अनाथ' (बिना स्वामी की) कहती हैं, जो उनकी असुरक्षा और अकेलेपन को व्यक्त करता है।
