उचुर्लक्षणिनो ये मां पुत्रिण्यविधवेति च ।
तेऽद्य सर्वे हते रामे ज्ञानिनोऽनृतवादिनः ॥६-४८-२॥
ucurlakṣaṇino ye māṃ putriṇyavidhaveti ca |
te'dya sarve hate rāme jñānino'nṛtavādinaḥ ॥6-48-2॥
Translation
Those knowers of signs (astrologers) who told me that I would bear sons and never be a widow—all those wise men have become liars today with Shri Rama being killed.

जिन लक्षण-वेत्ताओं (ज्योतिषियों/सामुद्रिक शास्त्रियों) ने मुझसे कहा था कि मैं पुत्रवती और अविधवा (सुहागन) रहूँगी, आज श्री राम के मारे जाने पर वे सभी ज्ञानी झूठे सिद्ध हो गए।
English Commentary
Sita confronts a crisis of faith. She recalls the prophecies of 'lakshaninah' (interpreters of signs) who predicted she would be 'avidhava' (never widowed) and a mother of sons. Seeing Shri Rama dead (to her eyes), she concludes that these 'jnaninah' (wise men) were 'anritavadinah' (liars). This reflects the profound despair where even spiritual assurances seem to collapse under the weight of tragic reality.

सीता का विश्वास शास्त्रों और भविष्यवाणियों पर से डगमगा जाता है। उन्हें याद आता है कि ज्योतिषियों ने उन्हें 'अविधवा' (सदा सुहागन) रहने का आशीर्वाद दिया था। श्री राम की 'मृत्यु' (जो उन्हें प्रतीत हो रही है) ने उन वचनों को 'अनृत' (झूठ) कर दिया। यह चरम हताशा की स्थिति है जब दैवीय विधान भी असफल लगता है।
