यज्वनो महिषीं ये मामूचुः पत्नीं च सत्रिरणः ।
तेऽद्य सर्वे हते रामे ज्ञानिनोऽनृतवादिनः ॥६-४८-३॥
yajvano mahiṣīṃ ye māmūcuḥ patnīṃ ca satriraṇaḥ |
te'dya sarve hate rāme jñānino'nṛtavādinaḥ ॥6-48-3॥
Translation
Those who said I would be the consecrated queen of a sacrificer and the wife of one who performs Sattra sacrifices—all those wise men have become liars today with Shri Rama being killed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिन्होंने मुझे यज्ञ करने वाले की पटरानी और सत्र (महायज्ञ) करने वाले की पत्नी बताया था, आज श्री राम के मारे जाने पर वे सभी ज्ञानी झूठे सिद्ध हो गए।
English Commentary
Sita refers to specific Vedic roles predicted for her: 'mahishim' (chief queen) of a 'yajvanah' (performer of sacrifices). Being the consort in grand sacrifices like Ashvamedha implies a long and prosperous reign. Shri Rama's 'death' in the forest nullifies these predictions, making the prophesied royal future seem like a cruel illusion.

वैदिक संस्कृति में 'यज्वन' (यज्ञ करने वाला राजा) की पत्नी होना सौभाग्य की बात थी। सीता को राज्याभिषेक और अश्वमेध यज्ञ की पटरानी बनने का योग बताया गया था। श्री राम के वन में गिरने से वह राजयोग और धार्मिक प्रतिष्ठा का सपना टूट गया।
