उचुः संश्रवणे ये मां द्विजाः कार्तान्तिकाः शुभाम् ।
तेऽद्य सर्वे हते रामे ज्ञानिनोऽनृतवादिनः ॥६-४८-४॥
ucuḥ saṃśravaṇe ye māṃ dvijāḥ kārtāntikāḥ śubhām |
te'dya sarve hate rāme jñānino'nṛtavādinaḥ ॥6-48-4॥
Translation
Those Brahmins and astrologers who, in the hearing of many, declared me to be auspicious—all those wise men have become liars today with Shri Rama being killed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिन ब्राह्मणों और ज्योतिषियों (कार्तान्तिक) ने सबके सुनने में (संश्रवणे) मुझे शुभ लक्षणों वाली बताया था, आज श्री राम के मारे जाने पर वे सभी ज्ञानी झूठे सिद्ध हो गए।
English Commentary
The prophecies were made 'samshravane' (in public hearing), adding to the humiliation and tragedy. Sita was declared 'shubham' (auspicious), but the death of her husband marks her as inauspicious in her own eyes. The failure of public predictions by respected 'dvijah' (Brahmins) deepens her sense of betrayal by fate.

ये भविष्यवाणियां गुप्त नहीं, बल्कि 'संश्रवणे' (सार्वजनिक रूप से) की गई थीं। सीता को 'शुभाम्' (शुभ लक्षणों वाली) कहा गया था। अब उन्हें लगता है कि वे अशुभ हैं क्योंकि उनके पति की मृत्यु हो गई। सार्वजनिक घोषणाओं का गलत होना अधिक पीड़ादायक होता है।
