इमानि खलु पद्मानि पादयोर्यैः किल स्त्रियः ।
आधिराज्येऽभिषिच्यन्ते नरेन्द्रैः पतिभिः सह ॥६-४८-६॥
imāni khalu padmāni pādayoryaiḥ kila striyaḥ |
ādhirājye'bhiṣicyante narendraiḥ patibhiḥ saha ॥6-48-6॥
Translation
Indeed, these are the lotus marks on my feet, by virtue of which women are consecrated in imperial sovereignty along with their king-husbands.
हिंदी अनुवाद
निश्चय ही मेरे पैरों में वे 'पद्म' (कमल) के चिह्न हैं, जिनके कारण स्त्रियां अपने राजा पतियों के साथ उच्च राज-पद (आधिराज्य) पर अभिषिक्त होती हैं।
English Commentary
Sita examines her own body marks, specifically the 'padmani' (lotus signs) on her feet. In Samudrika Shastra, this is a mark of royalty, destined for 'adhirajye' (imperial sovereignty) alongside a king. She acknowledges she possesses the physical signs of a queen, which makes her current reality of forest exile and widowhood confusing and contradictory to the scriptures.

सीता सामुद्रिक शास्त्र (Body marks) का उल्लेख करती हैं। उनके पैरों में 'पद्म' (कमल) का चिह्न था जो राजरानी बनने का सूचक है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार ऐसे लक्षणों वाली स्त्री अपने पति के साथ राज्याभिषेक प्राप्त करती है। सीता हैरान हैं कि ये लक्षण होते हुए भी दुर्भाग्य क्यों आया।
