Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सत्यनामानि पद्मानि स्त्रीणामुक्तानि लक्षणैः ।
तान्यद्य निहते रामे वितथानि भवन्ति मे ॥६-४८-८॥
satyanāmāni padmāni strīṇāmuktāni lakṣaṇaiḥ |
tānyadya nihate rāme vitathāni bhavanti me ॥6-48-8॥
Translation
The lotus marks mentioned in the science of signs for women are said to be unfailing (satyanamani). Today, with Shri Rama killed, they have become futile for me.

लक्षण-शास्त्र में स्त्रियों के जो कमल आदि चिह्न 'सत्यनाम' (फलदायी) बताए गए हैं, आज श्री राम के मारे जाने पर मेरे वे सभी चिह्न व्यर्थ (वितथ) हो रहे हैं।
English Commentary
The marks are traditionally 'satyanamani' (of true name/unfailing result). Sita observes that with Shri Rama's death, these infallible signs have become 'vitathani' (false/futile) in her case. This verse underscores the magnitude of the calamity—it is an event that breaks the established laws of nature and destiny.

शास्त्र कहते हैं कि कमल के चिह्न कभी झूठे नहीं होते ('सत्यनामानि')। लेकिन सीता के मामले में यह अपवाद सिद्ध हुआ। श्री राम की मृत्यु ने शास्त्रों की सत्यता को ही चुनौती दे दी। सीता का दुख इतना गहरा है कि उन्हें शाश्वत सत्य भी झूठे लगने लगे हैं।
