घोरेण शरबन्धेन बद्धौ दशरथात्मजौ ।
निःश्वसन्तौ यथा नागौ शयानौ रुधिरोक्षितौ ॥६-४९-१॥
ghoreṇa śarabandhena baddhau daśarathātmajau |
niḥśvasantau yathā nāgau śayānau rudhiroksitau ॥6-49-1॥
Translation
Bound by a terrible entanglement of arrows, the two sons of King Dasharatha lay on the ground, drenched in blood and sighing heavily like wounded serpents.
हिंदी अनुवाद
भयंकर बाण-बन्धन में बंधे हुए राजा दशरथ के दोनों पुत्र, रक्त से सने हुए और घायल सर्पों के समान लंबी साँसें लेते हुए भूमि पर पड़े थे।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the agonizing state of Shri Rama and Shri Lakshmana bound by the Naga-pasha (serpent noose). Indrajit's illusory weapons have rendered the invincible princes motionless. The metaphor of a serpent highlights their intense pain and labored breathing. This scene reveals the horror of war and the deceptive tactics of the demons, showing how even the Supreme Lord, in His human play, undergoes suffering to uphold the laws of mortality.

इस श्लोक में नागपाश में बंधे श्री राम और श्री लक्ष्मण की दयनीय अवस्था का चित्रण किया गया है। इन्द्रजित के मायावी अस्त्रों ने अजव पराक्रमी राजकुमारों को निश्चेष्ट कर दिया है। यहाँ सर्प की उपमा उनकी वेदना और श्वास की गति को दर्शाती है। यह दृश्य युद्ध की विभीषिका और असुरों की छद्म युद्ध नीति को प्रकट करता है, जहाँ साक्षात् नारायण भी नर-लीला के वशीभूत होकर पीड़ा सहन कर रहे हैं।
