उपालम्भं न शक्ष्यामि सोढुं बत सुमित्रया ।
इहैव देहं त्यक्ष्यामि न हि जीवितुमुत्सहे ॥६-४९-११॥
upālambhaṃ na śakṣyāmi sodhuṃ bata sumitrayā |
ihaiva dehaṃ tyakṣyāmi na hi jīvitumutsahe ॥6-49-11॥
Translation
Alas! I shall not be able to bear the reproaches of Mother Sumitra. I will give up my body right here, as I have no desire to live anymore.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हाय! मैं माता सुमित्रा के उलाहनों को सहने में समर्थ नहीं हूँ। मैं यहीं अपने शरीर का त्याग कर दूँगा, क्योंकि अब जीने की मेरी कोई इच्छा नहीं है।
English Commentary
Shri Rama's self-reproach reaches its peak here. The fear of 'Upalambham' (reproaches) shows His deep sense of guilt. He feels that instead of being Lakshmana's protector, He became the cause of his downfall. This pain of the Lord is part of His play in assuming full human emotions.
हिंदी टीका
श्री राम का आत्म-धिक्कार यहाँ चरम पर है। 'उपलाम्भम्' अर्थात उलाहने का डर उनके अपराध बोध को दिखाता है। उन्हें लगता है कि वे लक्ष्मण के रक्षक बनने के स्थान पर उनके विनाश का कारण बन गए। प्रभु की यह पीड़ा उनके पूर्णतः मानवीय संवेदनाओं को ग्रहण करने की लीला का अंग है।
