Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इष्टबन्धुजनो नित्यं मां च नित्यमनुव्रतः ।
इमामद्य गतोऽवस्थां ममानार्यस्य दुर्नयैः ॥६-४९-१८॥
iṣṭabandhujano nityaṃ māṃ ca nityamanuvrataḥ |
imāmadya gato'vasthāṃ mamanāryasya durnayaiḥ ॥6-49-18॥
Translation
He was always dear to his kinsmen and always devoted to me; today he has reached this state because of the ill-conceived actions of ignoble me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे सदा अपने बंधु-बांधवों के प्रिय थे और सदा मेरे पीछे चलने वाले थे; आज वे मुझ नीच की गलत नीतियों के कारण इस अवस्था को प्राप्त हुए हैं।
English Commentary
Shri Rama questions His own policies here. He views Himself as small in front of Shri Lakshmana's devotion. The word 'Durnayaih' reveals His deep self-reflection. It is a trait of a great personality to take the blame for the suffering of others upon themselves.

श्री राम यहाँ अपनी नीतियों पर प्रश्न उठा रहे हैं। वे लक्ष्मण के समर्पण के सामने स्वयं को छोटा मान रहे हैं। 'दर्नयैः' शब्द उनके आत्म-मंथन को दिखाता है। यह एक महान व्यक्तित्व का लक्षण है कि वे दूसरों की पीड़ा का कारण स्वयं को मानते हैं।
