Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सा नूनम् असित अपान्गी रक्षो मध्य गता सती ।
मन् नाथा नाथ हीना इव त्रातारम् न अधिगच्चति ॥६-५-१५॥
sā nūnamasitāpāṅgī rakṣomadhyagatā satī । mannāthā nāthahīneva trātāraṃ nādhigacchati ॥6-5-15॥
Translation
Surely she of dark eyes, stuck among Rakshasas, being virtuous and having me as her lord, finds no protector just like an orphan/widow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
निश्चय ही वह काले नेत्रों वाली (सीता), राक्षसों के बीच में पड़ी हुई, सती (पतिव्रता) होते हुए और मेरा जैसा स्वामी (नाथ) होते हुए भी, अनाथ की भांति रक्षक को नहीं पा रही है।
English Commentary
The painful paradox. Shri Rama reflects on the irony that Sita, who has the mighty Shri Rama as her 'Natha' (Lord/Protector), is suffering like one who is 'Nathahina' (destitute/protector-less). This creates a sense of guilt and urgency in him to restore his status as her effective guardian.
हिंदी टीका
विडंबना (Irony)। श्री राम 'त्रिलोकीनाथ' हो सकते हैं, लेकिन उनकी पत्नी अनाथ महसूस कर रही है। 'मन्नाथा' (जिसका नाथ मैं हूँ) और 'नाथहीनेव' (बिना नाथ के समान) का विरोधाभास श्री राम के हृदय को कचोटता है। यह उनकी असहायता का चित्रण है।
