Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तद् वियोग इन्धनवता तच् चिन्ता विपुल अर्चिषा ।
रात्रिम् दिवम् शरीरम् मे दह्यते मदन अग्निना ॥६-५-८॥
tadviyogendhanavatā taccintāvipulārciṣā । rātriṃdivaṃ śarīraṃ me dahyate madanāgninā ॥6-5-8॥
Translation
My body is burnt day and night by the fire of passion/love, which has her separation as fuel and thoughts of her as huge flames.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उसका वियोग जिसका ईंधन है और उसकी चिंता जिसकी विशाल ज्वाला (लपट) है, उस कामरूपी अग्नि (मदनाग्नि) से मेरा शरीर रात-दिन जल रहा है।
English Commentary
An elaborate metaphor of Fire. The separation ('viyoga') acts as the fuel ('indhana'), and the anxious thoughts ('chinta') are the roaring flames ('archisha'). Shri Rama describes his state as being consumed by 'Madanagni' (the fire of Cupid/Love). It depicts a feverish state of longing that knows no rest.

रूपक अलंकार (Metaphor)। श्री राम अपनी पीड़ा को 'यज्ञ' या 'अग्नि' के रूप में देखते हैं। वियोग लकड़ी (ईंधन) है, चिंता आग की लपटें हैं, और कामदेव की अग्नि ('मदनाग्नि') उन्हें जला रही है। यह निरंतर दहन ('रात्रिंदिवं') की स्थिति है।
