अन्ये परमसङ्क्रुद्धा राक्षसा भीमनिस्वनाः ।
तलैरेवाभिधावन्ति वज्रस्पर्शसमैर्हरीन् ॥६-५२-१६॥
mūḍhāḥ śoṇitagandhena nipeturdharaṇītale |
anye paramasaṃkruddhā rākṣasā bhīmaniḥsvanāḥ ॥6-52-16॥
Translation
Bewildered by the smell of blood, some Rakshasas fell to the ground. Other extremely enraged Rakshasas made terrifying sounds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रक्त की गंध से मूर्छित होकर कुछ राक्षस भूमि पर गिर पड़े। अन्य अत्यंत क्रोधित राक्षस भयंकर गर्जना करने लगे।
English Commentary
The smell of blood ('Shonita-gandha') is a symbol of the war's ferocity. Even the Rakshasas, who were lovers of violence, find the intensity of this carnage unbearable. Some Rakshasas continue to roar in rage, representing their desperate final attempts at resistance.
हिंदी टीका
रक्त की गंध (शोणितगन्ध) युद्ध की भीषणता का प्रतीक है। जो राक्षस स्वयं हिंसा प्रेमी थे, वे भी इस नरसंहार की तीव्रता को सहन नहीं कर पा रहे हैं। कुछ राक्षस अभी भी क्रोध में भरकर गर्जना कर रहे हैं, जो उनके हताशापूर्ण अंतिम प्रयास को दर्शाता है।
