वानरैरापतन्तस्ते वेगिता वेगवत्तरैः ।
मुष्टिभिश्चरणैर्दन्तैः पादपैश्चावपोथिताः ।
वानरैर्हन्यमानास्ते राक्षसा विप्रदुद्रुवुः ॥६-५२-१७॥
talaīrevābhidhāvanti vajrasparśasamaīrharīn |
vānarairapinananto vaiginā vegavattaraīḥ ॥6-52-17॥
Translation
Those Rakshasas rushed toward the monkeys with their palms whose touch was like thunder, but the swifter Vanaras struck them back.

वे राक्षस वज्र के समान स्पर्श वाली अपनी हथेलियों से वानरों की ओर दौड़े, किन्तु अधिक वेग वाले वानरों ने उन पर प्रहार किया।
English Commentary
This hints at hand-to-hand combat ('Malla-yuddha'). The Rakshasas' palms were like 'Vajra-sparsha' (touch of thunderbolts), but the speed of the Vanaras was superior. In war, strength alone is insufficient; the balance of speed and timing is mandatory, which favored the Vanaras.

यहाँ मल्ल-युद्ध (कुश्ती) का संकेत है। राक्षसों की हथेलियाँ 'वज्रस्पर्श' के समान थीं, किन्तु वानरों की गति (वेगवत्तरैः) उनसे अधिक थी। युद्ध में केवल शक्ति पर्याप्त नहीं है, गति और समय का संतुलन भी अनिवार्य है, जो वानरों के पक्ष में था।
