तद्वभूवाद्भुतं घोरं युद्धं वानररक्षसाम् ।
शिलाभिर्विविधाभिश्च बहुभिश्चैव पादपैः ॥६-५२-९॥
mamanthū rakṣasāṃ bhīmāmānāni ca babhāṣire |
tadbabhūvād bhutaṃ ghoraṃ yuddhaṃ vānararakṣasām ॥6-52-9॥
Translation
They began to crush the terrible Rakshasas and spoke of their own valor. That battle between the Vanaras and Rakshasas became wondrous and terrible.

उन्होंने भयंकर राक्षसों को कुचलना आरम्भ किया और अपने पराक्रम की बातें कहने लगे। वानरों और राक्षसों के बीच वह युद्ध अत्यंत अद्भुत और भयंकर हो गया।
English Commentary
Two 'rasas' (emotions) of war are described here—the terrible ('Ghora') and the wondrous ('Adbhuta'). 'Manam babhashire' indicates they were proclaiming their valor, which is essential to break the enemy's spirit. The term 'Mamanthuh' (crushed/churned) proves that the Vanaras' strength was now becoming effective against the Rakshasas.
