अन्ये लक्षणसंयुक्ताः शूरारूढा महाबलाः ॥६-५३-११॥
te yuddhakuśalai rūḍhāstoraṅkuśapāṇibhiḥ |
anye lakṣaṇasaṃyuktāḥ śūrā rūḍhā mahābalāḥ ॥6-53-11॥
Translation
Those elephants were mounted by mighty and heroic warriors skilled in war, holding iron clubs and goads in their hands.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे हाथी युद्ध में कुशल और हाथों में तोमर तथा अंकुश लिए हुए महाबली शूरवीर घुड़सवारों (या महावतों) द्वारा आरूढ़ थे।
English Commentary
The warriors mounted on elephants were not just drivers (mahouts) but armed combatants themselves, capable of dealing double damage.

हाथियों पर बैठे योद्धा न केवल महावत थे बल्कि स्वयं भी सशस्त्र थे, जो युद्ध में दोहरी मार करने में सक्षम थे।
