तद्राक्षसबलं घोरं विप्रस्थितमशोभत ।
प्रावृट्काले यथा मेघा नर्दमानाः सविद्युतः ॥६-५३-१२॥
tadrākṣasabalaṃ ghoraṃ viprasthitamaśobhata |
prāvṛṭkāle yathā meghā nardamānāḥ savidyutaḥ ॥6-53-12॥
Translation
That terrifying demon army, as it marched forth, looked magnificent like thundering clouds accompanied by lightning during the monsoon season.
हिंदी अनुवाद
प्रस्थान करती हुई वह भयानक राक्षस सेना वर्षाकाल में बिजली सहित गरजते हुए बादलों के समान शोभा पा रही थी।
English Commentary
Valmiki's favorite simile - comparing the army to clouds. The dark color of the elephants resembled clouds, while the glint of weapons looked like lightning.

वाल्मीकि जी की प्रिय उपमा - सेना की तुलना मेघों से। हाथियों का काला रंग बादलों जैसा और हथियारों की चमक बिजली जैसी प्रतीत हो रही थी।
