भुजपाणिशिरश्छिन्नाश्छिन्नकायाश्च भूतले ।
वानरा राक्षसाश्चापि निपेतुस्तत्र वै रणे ॥६-५४-११॥
vānarā rākṣasāścāpi nipetustatra vai raṇe |
tato vānarasainyena hanyamānaṃ niśācaram ॥6-54-11॥
Translation
Monkeys and Rakshasas fell in that battle. Then, the night-rangers (Rakshasas) were seen being killed by the monkey army.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस रणभूमि में वानर और राक्षस दोनों ही गिर रहे थे। इसके बाद वानर सेना द्वारा राक्षसों का संहार होते देखा गया।
English Commentary
Initially, casualties are mutual, but the tide begins to turn. The verse notes that the Rakshasas (Nishacharas) were being slain by the Vanara army. This shift indicates the effectiveness of the Vanaras' fierce counter-attack. Despite the demons' superior weaponry, the monkeys' sheer ferocity and numerical strength began to overwhelm them. This momentum sets the provocation for Vajradamshtra's intervention in the following verses.

प्रारंभिक संघर्ष में दोनों पक्षों को क्षति हुई, किन्तु यहाँ युद्ध का पलड़ा वानरों की ओर झुकता दिखाई देता है। 'निशाचर' (राक्षसों) का वानर सेना द्वारा मारा जाना यह संकेत देता है कि प्राकृतिक अस्त्रों और भक्ति के बल पर लड़ने वाले वानर, राक्षसों के मायावी और यांत्रिक बल पर भारी पड़ रहे थे। यह अधर्म पर धर्म की विजय की प्रारंभिक अवस्था का चित्रण है, जिसने राक्षस सेनापति को क्रोधित किया।
