राक्षसान् भयवित्रस्तान् हन्यमानान् प्लवङ्गमैः ।
दृष्ट्वा स रोषताम्राक्षो वज्रदंष्ट्रः प्रतापवान् ॥६-५४-१३॥
dṛṣṭvā sa roṣatāmrākṣo vajradaṃṣṭraḥ pratāpavān |
praviveśa dhanuṣpāṇistrāsayanh harivāhinīm ॥6-54-13॥
Translation
Seeing this, the powerful Vajradamshtra, with eyes red with rage, entered the fray, bow in hand, striking terror into the monkey army.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह देखकर, क्रोध से लाल आँखों वाले प्रतापवान वज्रदंष्ट्र ने हाथ में धनुष लेकर वानर सेना को डराते हुए रणभूमि में प्रवेश किया।
English Commentary
Vajradamshtra's reaction is visceral; his eyes turn copper-red ('tamraksha') with rage. He steps in to restore the balance. The word 'trasayan' (frightening/terrorizing) indicates his aura of dominance. He doesn't just fight; he projects fear to break the psychological momentum the Vanaras had gained. Armed with his bow, he represents the disciplined, elite warrior engaging the chaotic mass of the enemy.

अपनी सेना की दुर्दशा देखकर वज्रदंष्ट्र का क्रोध अपनी सीमा पार कर गया। 'रोषताम्राक्षो' (क्रोध से लाल आँखें) उसके उग्र स्वरूप का वर्णन करता है। वह केवल युद्ध करने नहीं, अपितु 'त्रासयन' (भयभीत करते हुए) आया। एक कुशल योद्धा का लक्षण है कि वह अपने आगमन मात्र से शत्रु में भय उत्पन्न कर दे। उसका धनुष हाथ में होना यह बताता है कि वह दूर से ही संहार करने की योजना के साथ उतरा था। यहाँ से द्वंद्व युद्ध की भूमिका बनती है।
