बिभेद वानरांस्तत्र सप्ताष्टौ नव पञ्च च ।
विव्याध परमक्रुद्धो वज्रदंष्ट्रः प्रतापवान् ॥६-५४-१५॥
vinadya paramakruddho vajradaṃṣṭraḥ pratāpavān |
trastāḥ sarve harigaṇāḥ śaraiḥ saṃkṛttakandharāḥ ॥6-54-15॥
Translation
The highly enraged and powerful Vajradamshtra roared loudly. All the monkey troops, their necks severed by his arrows, were struck with terror.

अत्यंत क्रोधित और प्रतापी वज्रदंष्ट्र ने भयंकर गर्जना की। उसके बाणों से गर्दन कटने के कारण सभी वानर समूह भयभीत हो गए।
English Commentary
Vajradamshtra combines physical assault with psychological warfare by roaring ('vinadya'). The specific detail of 'severed necks' ('samkritta-kandharah') underscores the precision of his aim—he is executing the enemy, not just wounding them. The renewed terror among the Vanara troops marks a reversal of fortune. The powerful individual warrior is single-handedly dismantling the collective success of the army.

राक्षस का क्रोध और गर्जना (विनद्य) वानरों के मन में आतंक भर रही थी। यहाँ 'संकृत्तकन्धराः' (कटी हुई गर्दन वाले) शब्द का प्रयोग यह बताता है कि उसके बाण कितने घातक थे—वे सीधे प्राण ले रहे थे। मृत्यु के इस नग्न तांडव को देखकर वानर सेना, जो कुछ क्षण पहले जीत रही थी, अब पुनः भयभीत (त्रस्ताः) हो गई। युद्ध में मनोबल का खेल निरंतर बदलता रहता है, यह यहाँ स्पष्ट दिखाई देता है।
