स लब्धसञ्ज्ञो गदया वालिपुत्रमवस्थितम् ।
जघान परमक्रुद्धो वक्षोदेशे निशाचरः ।
गदां त्यक्त्वा ततस्तत्र मुष्टियुद्धमवर्तत ॥६-५४-२८॥
anyonyaṃ jaghnatustatra tāvubhau harirākṣasau |
rudhirodgāriṇau tau tu prahārairjanitaśramau ॥6-54-28॥
Translation
Both the monkey and the Rakshasa struck each other there. Exhausted by the blows, they both began vomiting blood.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे दोनों वानर और राक्षस वहाँ एक-दूसरे को मारने लगे। प्रहारों से उत्पन्न थकावट के कारण वे दोनों ही खून की उल्टियां करने लगे।
English Commentary
The brutality of the fist-fight is evident. Both warriors are spitting blood, indicating severe internal injuries from the concussive force of each other's punches. They are physically drained ('janita-shramau'). This verse emphasizes the parity between Angada and Vajradamshtra at this stage; neither is willing to yield despite the immense physical toll.

मुष्टियुद्ध अत्यंत भीषण था। दोनों एक-दूसरे पर घातक प्रहार कर रहे थे। 'रुधिरोद्गारिणौ' (रक्त उगलते हुए) और 'जनितश्रमौ' (थके हुए) शब्द उनकी शारीरिक अवस्था का वर्णन करते हैं। आंतरिक चोटों के कारण दोनों के मुख से रक्त आ रहा था। यह बराबरी का मुकाबला था जहाँ दोनों पक्षों को समान पीड़ा और क्षति हो रही थी।
