वानराश्चापि रक्षस्सु गिरीन् वृक्षान् महाशिलाः ।
प्रवीराः पातयामासुर्मत्तवारणसन्निभाः ॥६-५४-६॥
vānarāścāpi rakṣaḥsu girīn vṛkṣān mahāśilāḥ |
pravīrāḥ pātayāmāsurmattavāraṇasaṃnibhāḥ ॥6-54-6॥
Translation
The heroic monkeys, resembling intoxicated elephants, also hurled mountains, trees, and huge rocks upon the Rakshasas.

मतवाले हाथियों के समान पराक्रमी वानर वीरों ने भी राक्षसों पर पर्वतों, वृक्षों और विशाल शिलाओं की वर्षा कर दी।
English Commentary
The simile 'resembling intoxicated elephants' conveys the unstoppable momentum and raw power of the Vanara warriors. Unfazed by the Rakshasa weaponry, they retaliate with the very landscape itself—hurling mountains and trees. This imagery establishes an equality of valor despite the disparity in weaponry. It signifies that the Vanaras were in a state of battle-fury, possessing a fearless determination comparable to the mightiest beasts of the forest, fighting with absolute devotion to their cause.

वानरों की तुलना 'मत्तवारणसंनिभाः' (मतवाले हाथियों के समान) से करके कवि ने उनके अदम्य साहस और विशाल शक्ति को रेखांकित किया है। वे राक्षसों के प्रहार से डरकर पीछे नहीं हटे, बल्कि उसी उग्रता से उत्तर दिया। उनके अस्त्र प्रकृति प्रदत्त थे—पर्वत, वृक्ष और शिलाएं। यह दृश्य प्रकृति की शक्तियों के रौद्र रूप का प्रतीक है। जब धर्म के लिए युद्ध होता है, तो भक्त अपनी पूरी प्राकृतिक क्षमता के साथ अधर्म का प्रतिकार करता है, यही भाव यहाँ स्पष्ट होता है।
