प्रभिन्नशिरसः केचिद्भिन्नैः पादैश्च बाहुभिः ।
शस्त्रैरर्पितदेहास्तु रुधिरेण समुक्षिताः ॥६-५४-८॥
prabhinnaśirasaḥ kecidbhinnāḥ pādaiśca bāhubhiḥ |
śastrairarpitadehāstu rudhireṇa samukṣitāḥ ॥6-54-8॥
Translation
Some had their heads smashed, others had their legs and arms severed; their bodies were pierced by weapons and they were bathed in blood.

उस युद्ध में कुछ के सिर फूट गए थे, कुछ के पैर और भुजाएं कट गई थीं, और शस्त्रों के प्रहार से उनके शरीर छिन्न-भिन्न होकर रक्त से लथपथ हो गए थे।
English Commentary
The poet presents a visceral imagery of the battlefield's carnage. It moves from general descriptions of fighting to the graphic reality of injury—smashed heads and severed limbs. Being 'bathed in blood' serves as a reminder of the mortal cost of war. युद्ध की विभीषिका का यथार्थ चित्रण यहाँ किया गया है। यह केवल शौर्य प्रदर्शन नहीं था, अपितु अत्यधिक खूनी संघर्ष था। सिरों का फूटना और अंगों का कटना युद्ध की क्रूरता को दर्शाता है। 'रुधिरेण समुक्षिताः' (रक्त से नहाए हुए) वाक्यांश उस भयावह दृश्य को आँखों के सामने ला देता है। यह वर्णन हमें यह स्मरण दिलाता है कि धर्म की स्थापना के लिए किए गए संघर्ष में अपार शारीरिक पीड़ा और बलिदान भी सम्मिलित होता है।
