वज्रदंष्ट्रं हतं श्रुत्वा वालिपुत्रेण रावणः ।
बलाध्यक्षमुवाचेदं कृताञ्जलिमवस्थितम् ॥६-५५-१॥
vajradaṃṣṭraṃ hataṃ śrutvā vāliputreṇa rāvaṇaḥ |
balādhyakṣamuvācedaṃ kṛtāñjalimavasthitam ॥6-55-1॥
Translation
Upon hearing that Vajradamshtra had been slain by the son of Vali (Angada), Ravana spoke the following words to the army chief who stood before him with folded hands.

वालिपुत्र अंगद के द्वारा वज्रदंष्ट्र के वध का समाचार सुनकर रावण ने हाथ जोड़कर सम्मुख खड़े हुए सेनापति से ये वचन कहे।
English Commentary
This verse reveals Ravana's growing concern during the war. The death of powerful generals like Vajradamshtra at the hands of Angada was a significant blow to Ravana's ego and a testament to the rising prowess of the Vanara army. Ravana's address to his army chief signifies his relentless pursuit of war and his dependence on his military structure to counter the divine forces led by Shri Rama.

यहाँ रावण की युद्धकालीन चिंता प्रकट होती है। एक के बाद एक सेनापतियों का मारा जाना रावण के अहंकार के लिए बड़ी चुनौती थी। वज्रदंष्ट्र जैसे शक्तिशाली राक्षस का अंगद के हाथों वध होना वानर सेना के बढ़ते हुए पराक्रम को सिद्ध करता है। रावण अब अपनी अगली चाल चलने के लिए सेनापति को आदेश दे रहा है, जो उसकी निरंतर युद्ध पिपासा और अपने योद्धाओं के प्रति उसकी अपेक्षा को दर्शाता है।
