Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अकस्माद्दैन्यमागच्छद्धयानां रथवाहिनाम् ।
व्यस्फुरन्नयनं चास्य सव्यं युद्धाभिनन्दिनः ॥६-५५-१०॥
akasmāddainyamāgacchadhyayānāṃ rathavāhinām |
vyasphurannayanaṃ cāsya savyaṃ yuddhābhinandinaḥ ॥6-55-10॥
Translation
Suddenly, a strange weakness overcame the horses drawing his chariot, and the left eye of that war-loving Akampana began to twitch.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अचानक उसके रथ को खींचने वाले घोड़ों में दुर्बलता (शिथिलता) आ गई और युद्ध के अभिलाषी उस अकम्पन की बाईं आँख फड़कने लगी।
English Commentary
Nature begins to present signs of impending doom here. The sudden faltering of the horses and the twitching of a man's left eye are considered highly inauspicious in Indian tradition. These omens suggest that regardless of a warrior's strength, the path of unrighteousness leads inevitably to ruin.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ से प्रकृति द्वारा विनाश के संकेतों का आरम्भ होता है। घोड़ों का अचानक शिथिल होना और पुरुष की बाईं आँख का फड़कना भारतीय परम्परा में अत्यंत अशुभ माना जाता है। ये संकेत बताते हैं कि चाहे योद्धा कितना भी बलवान क्यों न हो, अधर्म का मार्ग अंततः पतन की ओर ही ले जाता है।
