Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
समरावणयोग्र्थे समभित्यक्तजीविनाम् ।
सर्वे ह्यतिबलाः शूराः सर्वे पर्वतसंनिभाः ॥६-५५-१६॥
samarāvaṇayogarthe samabhityaktajīvinām |
sarve hyatibalāḥ śūrāḥ sarve parvatasaṃnibhāḥ ॥6-55-16॥
Translation
All those warriors, who had renounced their lives for the sake of Shri Rama and Ravana respectively, were extremely powerful, heroic, and as massive as mountains.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्री राम और रावण के हित के लिए अपने प्राणों का मोह छोड़ देने वाले वे सभी योद्धा अत्यंत बलवान, शूरवीर और पर्वतों के समान विशाल थे।
English Commentary
The warriors of both armies had renounced the attachment to their lives ('Samabhityaktajivinam')—the Vanaras for the sake of Dharma and the Rakshasas for their sovereign Ravana. Both sides were physically formidable. This verse illustrates the gravity of the war where warriors had willingly accepted death in pursuit of victory.
हिंदी टीका
दोनों सेनाओं के योद्धा 'समभित्यक्तजीविनाम्' (प्राणों का त्याग करने वाले) थे। जहाँ वानर धर्म के लिए प्राण दे रहे थे, वहीं राक्षस अपने स्वामी रावण के लिए। दोनों ही पक्ष शारीरिक रूप से अत्यंत सुदृढ़ थे। यह श्लोक युद्ध की उस गम्भीरता को दर्शाता है जहाँ योद्धा विजय के लिए मृत्यु को भी सहर्ष स्वीकार कर चुके थे।
