Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
शुश्रुवे सुमहान् क्रोधादन्योन्यमभिगर्जताम् ।
रजश्चारुणवर्णाभं सुभीममभवद्भृशम् ॥६-५५-१८॥
śuśruve sumahān krodhādanyonyamabhigarjatām |
rajāścāruṇavarṇābhaṃ subhīmamabhavadbhṛṣam ॥6-55-18॥
Translation
The great sound of the warriors roaring at each other in anger was heard, and a very terrible, reddish-colored dust arose and spread intensely everywhere.
हिंदी अनुवाद
क्रोधवश एक-दूसरे पर गर्जना करते हुए योद्धाओं का महान शब्द सुनाई देने लगा और वहाँ अत्यंत भयंकर लाल रंग की धूल सब ओर छा गई।
English Commentary
The reddish color ('Arunavarna') of the dust is symbolic here. It foreshadows the terrible carnage on the earth's surface and the blood that will soon be shed. The warriors' clamor combined with the clouds of dust makes the battle scene even more terrifying and obscure.
हिंदी टीका
धूल का 'अरुणवर्ण' (लाल रंग) होना यहाँ प्रतीकात्मक है। यह पृथ्वी के धरातल पर होने वाले भयंकर संहार और भविष्य में बहने वाले रक्त की पूर्वसूचना देता है। योद्धाओं का कोलाहल और धूल का गुबार मिलकर युद्ध के दृश्य को और अधिक भयावह और अस्पष्ट बना रहे हैं।
