उद्भूतं हरिरक्षोभिः संरुरोध दिशो दश ।
अन्योन्यं रजसा तेन कौशेयोद्धूनपाण्डुना ॥६-५५-१९॥
udbhūtaṃ harirakṣobhiḥ saṃrurodha diśo daśa |
anyonyaṃ rajasā tena kauśeyoddhūnapāṇḍunā ॥6-55-19॥
Translation
The yellowish-white dust, appearing like silk cloth and raised by the movements of the monkeys and Rakshasas, blocked all ten directions.

वानरों और राक्षसों के दौड़ने से उठी हुई उस रेशमी वस्त्र के समान पीली-सफ़ेद धूल ने दसों दिशाओं को ढक दिया।
English Commentary
Comparing the dust to 'Kausheya' (silk cloth) demonstrates Valmiki's poetic brilliance. The dust was so dense that it must have blocked out the sunlight. The term 'Samrurodha' (blocked/obstructed) indicates that visibility on the battlefield had vanished, making the combat even more hazardous.

धूल की उपमा 'कौशेय' (रेशमी वस्त्र) से करना वाल्मीकि जी की काव्य प्रतिभा का दर्शन कराती है। यह धूल इतनी घनी थी कि उसने सूर्य के प्रकाश को भी रोक दिया होगा। 'संरुध' (ढक लेना) यह दर्शाता है कि अब युद्धभूमि में दृश्यता समाप्त हो गई है, जो युद्ध को और भी खतरनाक बना देती है।
